Popular with both well-dressed locals and expats alike, the two-storey Ciao Café is a great place for coffee, a sandwich or even an ostrich fricassee. Decorated with tasteful comfort, the corduroy couches and upholstered chairs are good for sitting back and enjoying one of the magazines on hand.
Romantic interludes, though, are best experienced in the third floor Ciao Lounge. Straight out of a nineteenth century boudoir that has been brought up to date courtesy of modern photos of dancers, this classic lounge is complete with black damask fabric on the walls, red velvet couches and sparkling chandeliers hanging from the ceiling. Drinks are tasty and reasonably priced, but you will be so overwhelmed by the sumptuous décor that you won’t even notice.
